Celebrate Ankeny: 2021 Edition

The Ankeny Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the relaunching of Celebrate Ankeny this year. Local officials have worked closely with community members over the past 8 months to make the event possible. We are also very appreciative of our Presenting Sponsor, Karl Chevrolet. This one-day event will be held on July 10th, 2021 from 4:30pm to midnight, located just North of Prairie Ridge Middle School and will feature local and regional live music.
This event has been over a year in the making and at certain points there was concern if the guidelines would allow for us celebrate together. We are happy to say we navigated the complexities of the planning process with the help of our community. We appreciate everyone’s input and passion for this event and what it means to Ankeny.
Staying true to tradition, we will be including our fireworks show at 9:30pm in the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex that can be viewed from multiple places in the surrounding area. Music, food, and beverages will begin at 5pm and continue up until midnight, with all of the bands and vendors to be announced in the coming weeks. Due to all of the changes in guidelines over the past year we will not be having the parade, boat regatta, or carnival in 2021, but have begun planning to be back to the full SummerFest Programming in 2022.
The Ankeny Area Chamber has kept a close eye on national, state and local Covid 19 guidelines and recommendations over the last year. Public safety and the well-being of our members, sponsors, volunteers and event guests has always been, and will continue to be, our number one priority. As with previous years, this will be an enclosed event with admission and exiting protocols to ensure safety of all guests attending. With the recent recommendations from the CDC, this event will not require masks, however we will continue to deploy the following safety measures: hand sanitizing stations, disposable masks will be available if desired, and spaces to sit.
We rely heavily on community volunteer groups, such as both high school athletic departments and local non-profits to put on the event. We want to thank the 200+ volunteers in advance for all their help in making the event possible. This year we will have a $5 admission to attend the event with a large portion going back to these volunteer groups. Tickets will be available online for pre-purchase starting on June 10th or at the gate on the day of the event. We recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as the event will have limited capacity for guests this year.
